We. Are. TEN!

This year marks one full decade for Mason Lane, and we're proud to be the only art advisory firm in multiple markets. This gives our clients access to more art and the best support in building meaningful art collections.  Walking around this year's Armory Show was also a humbling reminder of how different the firm is from the original vision, and what business accomplishment fuels the most pride from our first decade.

First, the vision: this business was conceptualized when I was working in the blue chip art world for years, bought my first home, and had no idea where to acquire art that I could afford. This was the foundation of an obsession in the emerging to mid-career art market. It was also the beginning of an exploration in what artwork interests different people and why. This concept differs greatly from learning what art was great and expensive because top galleries said so.

Our business, accordingly, has been a journey of connecting. This was so evident through the laughs, hugs, and conversations we had at the Armory Show just two weeks ago. It highlighted how much connection has been core to our work. We are proud to have fostered connections between clients, artists, galleries, framers, installers, designers, charities, kids, and even other advisors. Importantly, this business has also enabled our internal team to connect over our mutual appreciation for art, top notch client service, and a collaborative, supportive mindset.

One of our early projects: a Tribeca loft filled with two Annish Kappor works on paper, for clients we’re lucky to call friends for 10+ years.

This leads point #2: The accomplishment that I, as the Founder, am most proud of in our first ten years, is how this business fuels an ecosystem of women supporting women. This is not something I would have ever expected in 2014. I have also not intentionally just hired women. I like men too! That said, our collective internal embrace of collaboration over competition simply makes every day better.  It is the reason we are able to service our clients, think outside the box, and make a difference in ways we did not imagine.

One example of this relates to some exciting news we’d like to share: Maddie Fuehr started with our firm 7 years ago, just out of college. She moved from intern to part timer, to full timer, to invaluable member of the team.  She is now preparing to move to London where she will launch our first office overseas, Mason Lane London, with the enthusiastic support of every woman on our team.  I am honored to have Maddie as a colleague and to be part of a team that continuously lifts each other up, accomplishing far more than we could ever do alone.

Thank you all for your unwavering support over the years, and cheers to the next decade!
